Surgery Preparation
Because we want you to have a pleasant and safe experience with us, there are a few guidelines we would like you to follow:
•Change of Condition: If there is any change in your physical condition, such as a cough or fever, notify your physician before coming to Herndon Surgery Center.
•Patient Safety: You will not be allowed to drive yourself home nor leave the Surgery Center unattended. THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY. You should also arrange for a responsible adult to be with you at home for the first twenty-four (24) hours after your surgery or procedure.
•Nurse Contact: You will be contacted by one of our nurses prior to your surgery or procedure date to confirm your date of surgery and your time of arrival. He or she will ask some health related questions and answer any questions you may have regarding your surgery/procedure and preparation.
•Food: DO NOT EAT OR DRINK anything after midnight the night before your surgery or procedure. Eating or drinking prior to your procedure could delay or cancel your surgery.
•Medication: Do not take any medication after midnight unless instructed by your physician or our office. If you are diabetic or if you take high blood pressure medications, get specific instructions from your physician or the preoperative nurse at Herndon Surgery Center.
